This is actually an OLD posting that has somehow disappeared from my blog thinger.  Thankfully someone still had it, and I can put it back up.  I didn’t want to lose it cause I’m super proud of Nathan.

Original posting was as follows:

Sir forwarded a picture that my sister-in-law took with her phone.

Let’s just be clear……I have the MOST amazing brother on the planet, and I couldn’t be more proud of him EVERYDAY for what he has done and continues to do to serve and protect us and our country.  I don’t admire him becuase he’s highly ranked, or his uniform is wildly decorated – he’s my hero because he does this everyday, and has for the last 15 years of his life.  He loves it and believes with all his heart in the good he accomplishes - even at times when the sacrifice is high.  He has done 5 tours I can think of just off the top of my head – including Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq (Iraq more times than I’m comfortable with…..and I know I’m missing some).  And he will lead his own troops now into 3 more tours over the next several years.  He will do it because he doesn’t just serve Americans.  He serves any people who need help and protection, because it’s the right thing to do.  He does it well, he does it with honor and integrity, and he teaches his own men to do the very same thing.  I have the MOST amazing brother on the planet.

We see on the news the horrible things that less honorable soldiers do.  We hear about the abuse of power over weaker people who are trying to survive in conditions most of us have never, and will never know.  Make no mistake – they ARE the exception.  And for every one of those that brings disgrace to their uniform – there are THOUSANDS who understand what being a real soldier means.  (Sadly we don’t hear as much about them, because the media coverage of what they do everyday wouldn’t bring in nearly the same ratings as the horrible acts for which corporal punishment should still be enforced.)

I couldn’t think more highly of our men and women in uniform, as they ARE the best in the world.  Please make sure the soldiers in your life know what they mean to you.

PLUS, on a side note….look how good my little brother pulls of his dress blues!  ;)

Love to you all
