JEEZ LOUISE!!!  I can’t remember the last time I was so hounded over information!  So far, starting at like 4:30AM, I’ve had 5 pings for the scoop.  Let’s all just remember that those who didn’t get home til 3AM might have slept a little later today.  Ok, not my husband – sadly he had to be at work and is probably dragging quite a bit.  I REALLY hope he can get a nap in before our poker tournament tonight.  We also have a lot to do before our garage sale tomorrow.  This all might fall under a different blog though.

Ok, I’m going to write this without any spoilers about the movie.  But really – I don’t see why this is wildly important – do we not ALL know what happens by now?  It’s not like this is going to have some kind of Sixth Sense ending, right?  Anyway, this will mostly be a rant about how awesome the movie was.  So it’s pretty safe to read if you’ve not yet seen it.  If you don’t want to know that the movie is awesome and should be seen 8 million times….this is probably not the blog for you.

We got to the theater around 10:00pm, which was a little later than we had hoped.  Unfortunately, the theater was almost completely full.  We were able to wrangle the last of the “acceptable” seats together.  About a half hour later the only seats that were available were the first couple of rows down front.

Of the whole theater, I think we’d have been hard pressed to find any more than 20 guys in the joint.  And Twilight garb was abounding.  I got out to the truck to leave when I realized I had TOTALLY forgotten to wear one of my Twilight shirts.  I had to run back in and change.  Though in hindsight, I maybe should have worn my book 1 shirt instead of my book 3 shirt.

I was – for obvious reasons – terrified that this was going to be so lame, and ruin the story.  I know Stephenie had a hand in advising for it….but still.  Look at what they did to Eragon!!  And I was worried about the casting.  Bella and the Cullens are pretty hard shoes to fill – how can anyone possibly take on that task?!  Cedrick is good, and yummy in his own right…..but com’on……we’re talking EDWARD.

So here we have it.

AM – MA – ZING! Stupendous.  Wonderful.  I might have to create an entirely new language just to get some more adjectives to use.

Now let’s not get all wonky brained.  Everyone knows you can’t EVER make a movie as good as the book.  There’s just no time.  Plots have to be altered, everything smooshed together, pieces left out, yada, yada, yada.  This is no different.  But for as far as is possible when a movie is made from a book that everyone loves….this was just about as perfect and on the mark as possible.

Robert Pattinson – NAILED Edward.  He was Edward.  Kristin?  A terrific Bella.  And the Cullens were just wonderful.  My only regret is we didn’t get NEARLY enough time with them.  You lose so much of the character development when a book is turned into a film.  Alice is perfectly Alice.  Rosalie is definitely Rosalie.

And as an opening show it was awesome.  Clapping, screaming, squealing, cheering…YAY!  Stephenie’s cameo was met with the love that she deserves.  That was when you could tell where the true Twilighters in the theater were.  It’s not just about wearing a T-shirt girlies!!!  HA!

Craig said there were some things that he would have changed, but as a die hard Twilight-er – I was happy as a clam.

But having said all of that, let’s discuss the one thing that chaps my hide.  D and I have had lively discussions around this already.  A CAR IS A CAR!!  Edward and Rosalie were written very specific cars.  BOTH cars were changed in the movie.  Edward drives an S60R.  S60R!!  And Rosalie has an M3.  Why – WHY would that need to be changed for the movie?

Now I understand they don’t make the S60R anymore, but how hard is it to get an S60 and add a little R on the back tag if need be??  Stephenie went to such lengths (ok…her brothers did) to pick cars that were just right for the characters…just to pick something else?  To what end?!?!  Rosalie didn’t even have a BMW in the movie – they switched it to a Mercedes.  To be fair, the Mercedes did meet the proper amount of “ostentatious”, so it did at least match her personality.  So there you have it – my only real point of contention.
In closing, I’ll just reiterate….the movie ROCKED!!!  It was FANTASTIC, and I’m already all wiggy because I want to see it again right away-but have plans all stupid weekend long.  Even the trailers were outstanding.  YAAAYYYYY!!!!

Happy happy happy….clam clam clam….
